Facebook has really allowed me to make so many wonderful connections with other photographers. A lot of my inspiration comes from folks I have met on the internet, but never had the privilege of meeting in person! Erin is one of those sweet people! I absolutely love how she captures her children in their everyday life. It has inspired me to start documenting my son! Her photography is real, authentic and moving. Capturing your own children’s essence is hard! Kudos to you, Erin! Now come teach my son to be a good little boy so I can shoot his photos :)

Tell us something about yourself that has nothing to do with photography!
I am a kid movie junkie, I am in the process of going gluten and dairy free (fun times), I love to cook, and I wish I could read a book everyday if time allowed, but with three littles reading has basically become extinct!
What is your specialty? How would you describe your style?
I have just recently changed my genre of photography sessions. I am no longer taking family, newborn, or children. I really want to focus more on couples such as maternity and engagements. They are what I love shooting the most and I felt the change needed to happen in order to stay in love with photography and not just make it a “job”!
My style: It takes a long time for a photographer to get their own style, I am pretty close at this point, but I am very unsure as to how I would describe it……So go take a peek for yourself! Where do you get your inspiration?
Of course I have had other photographers to whom I have always been inspired by for shooting styles and editing……
But I have to say that my biggest inspiration has probably been my children. They have been my reason for even taking pictures, to document their life in every way possible so that I and them never forget their childhood because we all know that kids grow up WAY to fast on us!
What is in your bag?
Canon 5D Mark iii
What are you most proud of?
Being completely self taught.
What do you find most challenging during a session?
Light is a major factor in photography, it makes or breaks your picture!
Where do you go to learn more about the art of photography? (people, places, online, etc)
I have a wonderful group of amazing photography friends who have become like sisters to me! They help out so much in anything I do. But of course the internet and books are a MUST! Learning never stops!
If you could go back and change one thing as a beginning photographer, what would it be?
I still think of myself as a beginner as I have just started out in the photography world…but I really don’t think I would change anything!
You have to make mistakes to grow.
3 Pieces of Advice for Fellow Photogs
1.Learn your camera! Get it off Auto and don’t look back!
2.RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! Read and learn anything you can to better yourself!
3. Don’t compare yourself to others! You get there in your own time and you need to be you and not a copy of someone else!
What advice do you give mom’s at home who might want to shoot more photos of their own children?
Follow them around and let them lead you, anything they do can be a photo opportunity!
Capture even the simplest of moments because they are gone in a flash!
What are your goals for the future?
Eventually I would love to have a small studio as Winters here are LONG! Just to grow, meet new people, and enjoy what I do and never let it become just my “job/hobby” but something I truly enjoy.
THANK YOU Erin for sharing your story and your amazing talent! We look forward to watching you grow your business! And watching those sweet children of yours grow before our eyes. Congrats on everything!
